Frequently Asked Questions...

Who needs WHMIS training?
Any worker who works with or in proximity to a controlled product needs to be trained in WHMIS.

How often do I need re-certification?
The Occupational Health and Safety Act states that all training must be reviewed annually to ensure your employees know, retain, and follow the WHMIS guidelines.

How long does the course take?
On average the course takes 1 hour to complete.

Why computer based training?
Computer based training and specifically on-line training provides consistency while allowing flexibility. It allows an employer to use unexpected down time in a productive and cost effective manner.

Training can be provided 24 hours a day to employees everywhere in the country and not just in the training room, removing the hassles of arranging training facilities, trainers and production down time for groups of employees.

By using a database driven system, it provides a means of testing the knowledge of participants and documenting those results. Documentation is provided in a consistent and legally usable manner.

What do I do if I forgot to print my certificate or if I lost it?
You can reprint your certificate by going to Certificate Reprint and entering the username and password you used to take the course.

What is a Unit?
A unit is one training username and password.  You require one training unit for every individual that is going to take the training course.

There are four elements or segments to the training:
