How often do I need WHMIS re-certification? The Occupational Health and Safety Act states that all WHMIS training must be reviewed annually to ensure your employees know, retain, and follow the WHMIS guidelines. How long does the online WHMIS course take? On average the online WHMIS training takes 1 hour to complete. Why computer based WHMIS training? Computer based WHMIS training and specifically on-line WHMIS training provides consistency while allowing flexibility. It allows an employer to use unexpected down time in a productive and cost effective manner. WHMIS Training can be provided 24 hours a day to employees everywhere in the country and not just in the training room, removing the hassles of arranging training facilities, trainers and production down time for groups of employees. By using a database driven system, it provides a means of testing the knowledge of participants and documenting those results. Documentation is provided in a consistent and legally usable manner. What do I do if I forgot to print my WHMIS Training Certificate or if I lost it? You can reprint your certificate by going to WHMIS Certificate Reprint and entering the username and password you used to take the course. What is a Unit? A unit is one training username and password. You require one training unit for every individual that is going to take the WHMIS training course. What does the WHMIS training cover? The WHMIS training module is designed to comply with the "generic" or general components of Federal and Provincial WHMIS Legislation. It is designed to meet the needs of both employers and employees. NOTE: This program has NOT been designed to replace the Workplace Specific elements of the legislated requirements of WHMIS.
